Today in history June 22, 1941 Germany
invaded Soviet Union. Was the largest operation Germany practiced through out
the World War II, was known as operation Barbarossa. Adolf Hitler went full
force by launching “his armies eastward in a massive invasion of the Soviet
Union: three great army groups with over three million German soldiers, 150
divisions, and three thousand tanks smashed across the frontier into Soviet
territory” covering two thousand miles of the invasion front (history.com). The
Soviet Union at the time was if not the best military in the 20th
century and the were greatly underestimated by Hitlers’ Nazi Germany. The
invasion of by Germany would be a turning point of World War II.
