Facebook's "well-being" Change

The article by New York Times "The End of the Social News Era" authors Sapna Maheshwari and Sydney Ember explain that journalists prepare for Facebook’s big change; "Facebook says its changes will improve the “well-being” of its users. In an effort to usher in this new mood of online pleasantness, its product teams will drop the former goal of helping people find “relevant content” as they test the “meaningful interactions” thesis." Facebook use has been on a consistent decline since the beginning of the year and that has been directly linked to the overwhelming amounts of news and "The uncle you once looked up to, it turned out, had a habit of sharing rude memes that you did not want to see, much less Like." This reason accounts for my drop from Facebook this year. There also needs to be more authority and laws in place for such large platforms where people can post anything they feel like. There is too many people hiding behind the screen and freely attacking one another on their opinion of news. The change will be warmly welcomed here. [1 picture, 1 link, 2 quotes, 190 words]
