Arkady Babchenko, a Russian journalist, faked his own death with the assist of a makeup artist. An image of him lying down -covered in swine blood- gained the attention of many media outlets. However, he shocked many when he appeared alive again. So why did he stage his own death? The head of Ukraine's security service, Vasyl Gritsak, "told reporters at Wednesday's press conference that law enforcement arranged the made-up murder in an apparently successful effort to catch criminals who really did intend to kill Babchenko." Babchenko is outspoken about his views against the Russian government; hence, he became a target.
