NBA Star Sheds Tears for the Kim and Trump Meeting
ABC News covered Dennis Rodman, a former pro basketball player, crying in a live interview from Singapore on June 12 following the first meeting of President Trump and Leader Kim John Un. Rodman and Kim became close friends after bonding over their love for basketball. Their relationship has been continuously growing causing Rodman to anticipate the meeting of the two countries to make up for all the blood shed since well before Mr. Trump's Presidency. According to Rodman former President Barak Obama failed "to take him seriously" and "brushed him off" over the manner. A frequently traveler to North Korea, Rodman became very involved with the cause and "suggested he helped lay at least the ground work for summit"(Rodman). His tears were coming from the excitement and hope he feels with the United States and North Korea finally meeting in a peaceful, potentially productive manner. In his interview he exclaimed, "It's a great day! I'm so happy!"
