Having an 18-month old myself , I can’t even begin to imagine the heartbreak that Bode Miller and his family are going through at this difficult time after losing their 19-month old daughter to drowning in a neighbor’s pool. Bode Miller, a former US Olympic Skier and his wife Morgan Miller, a professional beach volleyball player were attending a party at their neighbors house. According to BBC news, Morgan found her daughter after she fell into the pool and tried to save her, although she could not. The paramedics arrived to the scene and she was taken to the hospital where doctors also had failed attempts at saving her. This story needs to be taken seriously and remind all of those with young children to watch them closely and do not leave them unattended around water under any circumstance. Miller posted to his Instagram in a statement asking the public for privacy, “We are beyond devastated. Our baby girl, Emmy, passed away yesterday. Never in a million years did we think we would experience a pain like this. Her love, her light, her spirit will never be forgotten. Our little girl loved life and lived it to it’s fullest everyday. Our family respectfully requests privacy during this painful time.” (Miller).
