Memes Take Over

 

A recent claim that has surfaced social media is that Justin Trudeau, the current Prime Minister of Canada, said that “Canada didn’t need produce from American farmers because they have their own grocery stores.” The origin of this claim came from the recent “trade war between the United States and Canada” in June 2018. Memes on social media began to go around using this fake quote from the Prime Minister. The phrase was “originally posted as a joke” by an outsider not related to the Prime Minister in any way.
