Khan Holds Social Media Accountable
In the article about Sadiq Khan, https://amp.businessinsider.com/sadiq-khan-criticised-facebook-twitter-uber-google-fake-news-abuse-2018-3, author Shona Ghosh calls out big tech companies and their lack of holding their users accountable. She states, " London mayor Sadiq Khan will attack Google, Facebook, and Twitter for not doing enough to delete hate speech and abuse from their platforms." Khan currently resides over the biggest tech company in Europe so he has the right to hold the tech industry accountable. He said that "Facebook, Twitter, and Google can remove offensive content and misinformation faster. If they don't, they must face government-imposed fines." Germany has already passed laws requiring the tech companies to decide if something is hate speech and they have just 24 hours to do so. Its time that the United States starts to protect its users online and not just on the streets given that our society is moving away from face-to-face interactions.
