‘Fake News’: Wide Reach But Little Impact, Study Suggests

An article from the New York Times written by Benedict Carey suggests that fake news has a wide reach but is shallow in comparison. Questions such as who is reading the fake news and how much real news the person is consuming as well are still key factors. The study found that “one in four Americans saw at least one false story, but even the most eager fake news readers… consumed far more of the real kind, from newspaper and network websites and other digital sources” says Carey. I believe this article to be helpful because no one really knows the statistics when it comes to fake news. This article shines a light on a study that shows some information about fake news.
