The Science of Fake News

An article from the Science Magazine highlights fake news and the science behind it. They first define fake news as “fabricated information that mimics news media content in form but not in organizational process or intent.” To evaluate fake news they suggest focusing on the original sources that posted the articles, the publishers themselves. They talk about how there are bots that can detect fake ads from Facebook, Twitter, and other social media sources that can help reduce the problem. Fake news is everywhere nowadays but by using ‘science’ we can help stop it. Using bots and other technology to detect the bad sources can disrupt the wave of fake news being put out on to the Internet. [1 image, 1 link, 1 quotation, 118 words]
