Fake News: It's Life Threatening

WhatsApp, a messaging service that can easily be downloaded on any smartphones, is used by Indian users more than any other country. While many use the app to stay connected with loved one within the country or across the world, it has also been used to spread fake news. In a small village in India, a false rumor of child kidnappers and roaming murders have been spread around through the messaging app. Due to the news, many concerned folks have packed together to be on the lookout for the potential perpetrators. Unfortunately, this has led to the killing of numerous innocent people, who are being framed through the spread of the vicious messages. Hence, police superintendent, Rema Rajeshwari, has taken upon it as her mission to end the spread of fake news and educate the villagers to let the police handle situations like this. Rajeshwari tells the villagers, “You see these messages, these photos and videos, but you don’t check if they’re real or fake, you just forward them. Don’t spread these messages. And when strangers come to your village, don’t take the law into your hands. Don’t kill them.”
