Keystone Virus

We could possibly see another breakout of a new virus in North Florida. A 16 year old teen boy in Florida was diagnosed with Zika virus; Florida had a breakout in 2016 which is why the clinic the young boy went to thought it was Zika virus. He is the first reported case of the keystone virus as the virus is common in mosquito. Currently there is no treatment plan for the virus. “All sorts of viruses are being transmitted by mosquitoes, yet we don’t fully understand the rate of disease transmission,” J. Glenn Morris a research author and director of the university's Emerging Pathogens Institute, said. “Additional research into the spread of vector-borne diseases will help us shine a light on the pathogens that are of greatest concern to both human and animal health.’’
