Jestin Coler, founder of the faux news company called
Disinfomedia, describes his widely known fake news business in an interview
with NPR. Coler claims his motive for producing fake news is to show how fast
it spreads and how impactful it can be, specifically targeting ideological
groups. NPR states “Coler says his writers have tried
to write fake news for liberals — but they just never take the bait” and “stories
like this work because they fit into existing right-wing conspiracy theories.”
The original intent was to post fake news then denounce it to the public, but has
incentive to continue due to the amount of money he has made from it. [1 image, 1 link, 2 quotations, 111 words]
