For
the past year, football players that support the movement Black Lives Matter have decided to kneel during the National Anthem
to help bring a change in their society. This movement started almost two years
ago when Colin Kaepernick began to protest police brutality and refused to
“stand up to show pride in a flag or country that oppresses black people.” This
has been a very controversial topic over the years; viewers and players have
been asking themselves if it is disrespectful, or exercising a right, when
players kneel to support what they believe in. The NFL has decided that they
will take a stand against this act by “promising penalties” and delivering a
fine to those who “did not stand and show respect for the flag and the Anthem.”
Fox News took a poll to see what the viewers thought. When the question of “Has
political correctness gone too far?” was asked, 68% answered yes, and 19%
answered no. Should a sacred song demand respect, or should the people be
allowed to exercise their freedom or protest? [1 image, 2 links, 4 quotes, 178
