Summer vacation is something all school kids look forward to in order to catch a break from education. However, year-round education (YRE) has been introduced into school districts in order to obtain a balanced schedule. 2.5 million U.S. school kids have already lost their summer vacation and it is expected to reach 5 million. According to The Week, education experts believe "students forget too much of what they learned over the traditional 12-week break". Therefore, it is said to be beneficial to cut out summer vacation so that kids are able retain information rather than lose it. It is said that “63 percent of adults opposed year-round schooling” because they believe kids need a summer to get a job and attend camp. Education experts disagree and say YRE will continue to increase in order to improve education.
