Will Facebook's plan to combat Fake news be enough?

*Obviously Satire*

On June 15, 2018, Facebook's CEO Mark Zuckerberg revealed the steps that the platform will be taking to reduce the spreading of false news, but this plan seems to be extremely counterproductive. The main issue with fake news is that people are unable, or unwilling, to critically read sources to see if their obviously one-sided or not. According to Zuckerberg they will, "ask its users to tell it which news sources they read and trust," which will then, "shift the balance of news you see towards sources that are determined to be trusted" (Source). This makes almost zero sense because, as shown in the 2016 election-year, people are much more likely to believe, and trust, sources that are inline with their own viewpoint. Facebook's plan is extremely counter-productive because it means that, especially in cases of far-left or far-right political ideologies, it will only make their news feed more one-sided on political issues.
