Women are Taking the Wheel

Image result for saudi arabia women driving
Starting Sunday, Saudi Arabia women will legally be allowed to drive. This is a huge event for feminists worldwide, because Saudi Arabia was the last country left that banned women from driving. However, the reasoning for this decision is quite out of the ordinary. Saudi Arabia has ridiculously high traffic mortality rates, and officials believe that introducing women into the driving population will decrease these deaths caused by traffic. Crowned Prince Mohammed even argues that, “statistics show that women are generally safer and more defensive drivers than men.” In addition to the predicted decrease in traffic mortality rates, officials also believe that allowing women to drive will also boost the economy, as families will now have two cars instead of one, boosting the auto and oil industries, and more women may enter the workforce.
