Underground Farming

With the climate change and the weather becoming hotter every year farmers from Bolivia are changing their traditional farming methods to be able to grow their crops in present day. One of the major changes is the beginning of underground farming which is called walipinis. Walipinis are basically brick huts that are built on altiplano which help grow crops with the harsh weather including droughts, flash floods and high temperatures. These underground huts are great especially for farmers because “compared to conventional greenhouses, walipinis are considerably cheaper and more effective for this part of the world”. Although with great rewards that walipinis can help your crop, it is a difficult to excavate it since it’s a lot of work to dig up.
