Tim Lopes was an accomplished investigative journalist who won awards for his work on TV Globo. While working on a assignment that involved drug trafficking and sexual exploitation of minors, he tragically and violently lost his life Before his tragic murder, the suspects said that they " tied Lopes' hands, forced him into a car, and took him to the favela where Pereira da Silva (local drug trafficker) was staying. There, they beat the reporter and shot him in the feet to keep him from escaping." He was reported missing on June 3, 2002. Sadly, journalists lose their lives to make sure that other lives will become better. Lopes
