Punishment for Fake News

The first amendment allows freedom of speech and the press, but what about if the news is blatantly false and hurts your business? Chobani yogurt sued Infowars in 2017 for defamation after they posted a video and a tweet entitled "Idaho Yogurt Maker Caught Importing Migrant Rapists". The video and tweet caused a boycott of Chobani's products among the over 2 million followers of the blog. A settlement was eventually reached between the two parties with a total retraction of the Chiobani claims.
