| Five former Houston Texan cheerleaders stand with their lawyer holding up the hourly wage they were promised. |
Something not many people think about is how much money professional cheerleaders make. After all, they are the best in their industry, go to all the games, hold other public appearances, and boost the overall morale of the team. One would think such a job with that much responsibility and talent would allot for decent pay. Wrong. Former Houston Texas cheerleaders are
filing suit against the football team on the grounds of unfair wages, poor working conditions, and mistreatment. The cheerleaders are reportedly not even receiving the $7.25 an hour wage they were initially promised. In addition to low pay, the women often felt "threatened" as they couldn't "voice any complaints" without fearing "being fired."
Hannah Turnbow, former cheerleader, added the Texans' lack of security and transportation of the girls for events and of a past experience being attacked by a fan. "The team told her to "suck it up."
