News Flash: Category 6 Storms Do Not Exist

Late 2017, Hurricane Irma hurled its way to the Caribbean Islands and Puerto Rico. The strong
Atlantic storm left many homeless and without basic necessities. The storm even caused few fatal casualties. During this period, fake videos and reports were being transmitted all over social media sending residents into a panic. A popular video, retweeted at least 3,000 times, “show the force of hurricane winds hitting Puerto Rico, in the Caribbean, accompanied by howling winds which sound like a train engine.” But the reality is that the hurricane never hit Puerto Rico; it only passed by the country. One reporter even claimed Irma as a category 6 hurricane. Another network released an article called, “Category 6? If Hurricane Irma Becomes The Strongest Hurricane In History, It Could Wipe Entire Cities Off The Map." These false reports increased chaos for the residents and led many to be fearful for their lives.
