The
style choices of First Ladies have always been an important indication of how
things are going at the White House and these choices showcase the regality of
the United States. When visiting immigrant detainment centers in Texas, Melania
Trump was seen wearing an olive drab jacket with “I really don’t care do u?”
scrawled on the back in faux graffiti ”from the mass market brand Zara (Friedman).” The New York Times writer
Vanessa Friedman covered the fallout of this seemingly massively disrespectful
gesture in her article Melania Trump,
Agent of Coat Chaos (https://www.nytimes.com/2018/06/21/style/zara-jacket-melania-trump.html?hp&action=click&pgtype=Homepage&clickSource=story-heading&module=b-lede-package-region®ion=top-news&WT.nav=top-news).
This isn’t Melania’s first debacle with a bad fashion choice, “back in August
2017 when she walked across the tarmac at Joint Base Andrews in sky-high Manolo stilettos during the Texas flood
crisis? At that time, the
shoes seemed to symbolize her enormous remove from the trauma
(Friedman).”
