McDonald’s Franchises in Kansas Utilize Fake News Tactics for Food Safety Certifications

Fake news can be a general term for anything that is presented to an audience that is fabricated to serve the author’s purpose. This phenomenon is not reserved just to news posts; falsifying anything to an audience can also be considered fake news. For example, McDonald's has been subject to more shutdowns recently because the Kansas City Health Department found out that many franchises were using “fake ServSafe certificates for managers, rather than having them get trained on food safety.” KMBC reports that “more than 326 employees needed training” after these fake documents were found. Faking these certifications not only puts the lives of employees at risk, but also risks the lives of the customers who can only hope their food is handled safely.
