McDonald's Ditching Plastic Straws for Paper Ones
It's common knowledge that plastic is terrible for the environment. It takes hundreds of years to decompose and is the main cause of the pollution in the ocean. Good on McDonald's for taking the initiative in the fight against plastic. According to the BBC "McDonald's will replace plastic straws with paper ones in all its UK and Ireland restaurants, starting in September". For environmentalists, its fantastic news as this trend of switching from plastic to paper is only going to continue as having one of the biggest food chains in the world follow in this direction is great publicity. As two who is supplying these straws its reported that "Transcend Packaging in Wales, and Huhtamaki in Belfast, will supply the straws for all 1,361 McDonald's restaurant".
