It's not a secret that food companies twist the facts on their Nutrition Facts labels. But just how bad is it? Sometimes, labels are quite deceiving. In a 2010 report, it was found that companies purposely make it hard for consumers to read the ingredient put into their food. The companies would put small and condensed words on the label so that it can become virtually un-readable. Companies also aren't very truthful with the amount of fiber present in its products. The "high fiber" in their products are actually a fiber powder called "maltodextrin" and that the fibers "don’t have the same beneficial health effects as intact fibers from whole grains, fruits, and vegetables."
