Let’s be honest; we all use social media as a source for what’s going on in today's world, intentional or not. Some individuals may even only use engines like Facebook and Google as their main supply of news, but that could change in the new future. According to The Drum, "87% of respondents think Google and Facebook should do more to control fake news"(Lim). In addition to this, "85% say fake news has made them doubt news stories shared on social media" (Lim). Due to the lack of trust and abundance of frustration, people have began to not share as many news posts on Facebook. With anybody being able to post whatever it is they want to, is it possible to regulate fake news entirely on social media? Although complex, I think Facebook and other sources alike should begin to look into a way to filter out false news. By doing so, we can continue to make these sites another source for information and not speculation.
