Facebook
just recently announced "an expansion of its fact-checking program and
other actions it’s taking to combat the scourge of fake news on its social
network." With the help from independent third party fact-checkers, who
are certified by international fact-checking network, Facebook is able to
provide reliable and accurate news to its users. "These fact checkers rate
the accuracy of the story, allowing Facebook to take action on those rated
false by lowering them in the News Feed" and, with this, they are able to
remove the distribution of pages that exploit fake news. With so much fake news
being so prominent in the world of social media Facebook is taking on the
mission of removing as much fake news as possible.
