After coming under constant fire since the
2016 election, Facebook is continuously integrating ways to combat fake news on
their website. Facebook intends on enlisting Factcheck.org, Politifact, and the
Associated Press to debunk the fake news stories. They do not want the same
criticism in the upcoming elections as in 2016. According to an article
on Fortune, "Tessa Lyons, a Facebook product manager, said in a blog post
that Facebook’s machine-learning tech is helping to automatically weed out
cloned fake news stories that have already been proven untrue”. There is
no word whether or not Facebook will ban pages that constantly report fake
news.
