EU’s Plan to Reduce Pollution in Oceans

The European Union making ambitious strides towards cleaning up their oceans. European Union countries are now enforced to gather at least 90 percent of the plastic bottles found in the oceans by 2025. The European Commission vice president, Jyrki Katainen, states that “ Plastic can be fantastic, but we need to use it more responsibly. Single-use plastics are not a smart economic or environmental choice”. According to CNN Money, it is possible for this mission to take up to four years for the rules to be officially enforced. It is also noted that the public would save billions of dollars per year and thousands of jobs would be created from this project. Most importantly, millions of tons of carbon dioxide emissions would be prevented from entering our atmosphere.
