Can't Stop Mass Casualaties? So Learn to Stop the Bleed.

Can't Stop Mass Casualties? So Learn to Stop the Bleed.

Because of the rise of mass casualties and shootings happening in the past few years, a coalition of trauma surgeons created a program called "Stop the Bleed". This program, made by the Hartford Consensus and recognized by The White House, aims to educate bystanders on how to use tourniquets, improvised tourniquets or pack a wound to prevent a victim sustaining a gun shot or any other type of major traumatic emergency from dying from major arterial blood loss. Many trauma hospitals throughout the nation offer free workshops for bystanders and even offer to send trauma surgeons and trauma nurses to public places such as schools and churches to give workshops. Leaders of Stop the Bleed are hoping to gain support, especially because it "is far less controversial and attract bipartisan support" (Atlanta Journal Commission).
