Where Fake News Thrives

While fake news is an unfortunate reality of life, rarely do we, as in citizens of the US, get a glimpse of fake news in other countries. This article from Forbes explains a portion of the fake news exposure in other countries. In a report by Reuters regarding fake news,  a poll found that, "Over half of those polled (54%) say they are very or extremely concerned about what is real and ‘fake’ on the internet. This is highest in countries like Brazil (85%), Spain (69%), and the United States (64%) where polarised political situations combine with high social media use." This statistic makes me hopeful that through increased awareness, fake news can be phased out of social media where consumption is highest.
