The Onion: Making Fake News Look Credible

When I hear the term ‘fake news,’ my mind goes straight to the Twitter account @TheOnion. The Onion is a internet site that satires news and fools many into thinking that everything they post is true. They make their posts look credible with professional headlines and cover pictures. In this post screenshot above, The Onion published in 2013 that Obama had struck and killed former president Jimmy Carter while he was driving. Pressing on this article, the publisher said that Obama said “This was my fault. It was an accident but it is my fault. You take your eye off the road for a second, and…bam, you hit Jimmy Carter with your car. I’m actually sort of numb right now. Jimmy Carter is gone and I am the one responsible.” Here is the link for this article. This news is definitely untrue and completely nonsense! Jimmy Carter is still alive and Obama did not run over anyone during his presidency…
