Trying to differentiate
between real and fake news just got a whole lot harder with research that is
being done on manipulation video technology, that is being able to use a
picture of someone’s face and make them speak the words of another with
realistic facial movements. In an article by CBS News posted on April 17 of
this year, the article said that this technology is so powerful that “For example,
someone could take an image of President Trump and make him say something he
didn’t really say.” However, according to this article, an agency called DARPA
is hopefully working on a software program that will be able to detect if an image or
video has been edited or manipulated.
