The Fearless

Robert Fisk, a British journalist for the The Independent, is known for his courageous news coverage during war times in the Middle East. During the 90s, he even interviewed the Al-Qaeda leader, Osama Bin Laden, a few times. He is one of the most influential journalists of today as he is fearless to visit dangerous places and interview figures that tend to hide from the public eye. The other day, he went to Palestine to talk to the individuals that were forced to move out of Israel after World War II. He interviewed individuals who still have keys to their abandoned homes across the border in Israel. His description of the keys and his interaction with the people made you feel like you were with him on the journey. Fisk was honest and asked hard questions. He ended the article with a though-provoking statement: “I Ieave him, though, with the feeling that history stretches out into the future as well as the past, that he will never return and that his little museum and its keys are a symbol of regret rather than hope.”
