The American Colonization Movement was during an age of reform (1820-1840), many of these reformation groups were working to convert the public’s opinion to their cause. During this time reformers adopted a variety of ways to bring about social changes, so Moral Suasion which is like peer pressure in that to appear “good” and coincide with the morals of that time they’d coerce you into following the “right” pathway. Reformers would also use the power within forms of government to force sinners to part with their wrongdoings.
