Thomas W. Malone, a
Professor at MIT published a book depicting that groups of people and computers
acting together can solve bigger problems than we could have ever imagined,
problems like fake news. One of the biggest ways we can do this is by policing common
sites, using algorithms or people to eliminate unwanted or irrelevant material.
Another way of doing this is looking at credibility of the source or site, which
is why when we write research papers we need multiple sources to prove our
statements. Sometimes this can be judged more on marketing than accuracy, which
is why we have “standards for responsible journalism,” just like the research papers.
