No More Cold Opens?

"Saturday Night Live" actress Leslie Jones wants the show to contain less political comedy skits in this upcoming season. SNL, entering it's 44th running season, is notorious for its hilarious cast of actors portraying famous political figures. The cast list has featured some pretty big names ranging from Tina Fey to Will Ferrell. The skits reenact and exaggerate conversations and events that occur between political figureheads just days or even hours after they happen. Jones gave a statement during her interview that read, "I hope next year we can do more funnier stuff instead of a lot of political stuff." Leslie has been a cast member since 2014, and since the NBC late night special has been producing skits containing political humor since its first episode in 1975, this statement is expected to receive some backlash.
