German journalist, Paul Wagner, and his wife, Madalina Rosca, have been covering the ongoing protests of government corruption in Romania for over a year and a half now. On June 20, 2018 in the city of Bucharest, police forces in riot gear waded into a group of calm protesters and chaos suddenly broke out; Amidst the confusion, Wagner was arrested and thrown into a police van. "Usually, Romanian protesters will not let themselves be provoked,"
said Rosca, who was also reporting and even captured a photo of the arrest. The couple wonder if this was an intentional snatch and grab due to their recently-made documentary about extreme poverty in the constituency of politician Liviu Dragnea, the head of the Social Democratic Party in Romania.
