Journalist's Arrest in Romania

Thousands of protesters in the streets of Bucharest. More rallies expected throughout the weekend.
Wagner (Center) being arrested.
German journalist, Paul Wagner, and his wife, Madalina Rosca, have been covering the ongoing protests of government corruption in Romania for over a year and a half now. On June 20, 2018 in the city of Bucharest, police forces in riot gear waded into a group of calm protesters and chaos suddenly broke out; Amidst the confusion, Wagner was arrested and thrown into a police van. "Usually, Romanian protesters will not let themselves be provoked," said Rosca, who was also reporting and even captured a photo of the arrest. The couple wonder if this was an intentional snatch and grab due to their recently-made documentary about extreme poverty in the constituency of politician Liviu Dragnea, the head of the Social Democratic Party in Romania.
