Help Fight Fake News
There may now be a weapon in the fight against fake news. A
company named eyeo has developed a browser extension that will rate sites by
trustworthiness. Director of ecosystems, Ben Williams, shares their approach “it
will rely on the feedback received from the user to determine whether or not a
source is trustworthy or full of it. This multi-stage project first cross-
references the site being visited with four third party fact checkers. “If they
all agree, it’s deemed true, and if they don’t the site gets flagged”. The next
question is whether or not the third parties are trustworthy as well.
Unfortunately, there may be no credible solution to fighting fake news.
