Fake news stories began to come about after the saddening death of Anthony Bourdain. Sites such as, Yournewswire.com, stated that Bourdain was “threatened by Hillary Clinton operatives” and that “Mr. Bourdain was planning to expose pedophile rings connected to Hollywood and D.C. shortly before his death.” (Adl-Tabatabai). Journalist, Alex Kaplan, reported on this story stating, “Multiple radio stations and foreign television networks subsequently shared the claims as if they were real.” (Kaplan). His article shared that this rumor began to be posted all over the media and spoken about on radio stations worldwide. It became such a widely publicized story that many thought it was true. His death was ultimately ruled a suicide.
