Distrust in Media Leaves Journalist Dead

Today a journalist from Kashmir, India named Shujaat Bukhari was killed after being shot by several men outside of his workplace. Many people are shocked and heartbroken, and the consensus among many is that he was “a courageous and fearless journalist.” However, his death has caused not only grief but has also struck fear in other journalists, as this attack sets the tone of the current political media tension in the area. CNN reports (that the chief minister even goes as far to call this event an act of “terrorism” and that terrorism has “hit a new low with Shujaat’s killing.” This event shows how dangerous distrust in the media and political disagreements can get for both journalists and the audience.
