One of the greatest defenders of democracy is the media and journalists that work to keep the government honest
in its deeds. However, failing to protect the various institutions in place
that support democracy will lead to its eventual erosion. And when brazen
corruption occurs, “no censor can stop people from knowing—and sometimes
booting them out.” Especially as we live in most cases, the bulwark of the
principles of democracy. It is imperative to protect and support the
transparency of government. America’s democracy is not in great danger but if
the tell-tale signs of a government trying to strip citizens’ rights is not heeded,
trouble will be ahead.
