Both Korea Agree to Temporary Family Reunions
Today both North and South Korea agreed to have temporary reunions for families that were torn apart during the Korean War. According to ABC News "The reunions will take place at North Korea's Diamond Mountain resort from Aug. 20 to 26, Seoul's Unification Ministry said after a nine-hour meeting between Red Cross officials from the two sides". Both countries will be able to bring 100 people each to the resort. Of course, the only ones that will mostly be affected by this are elderly family members that were alive during the war. This isn't the first time that the Koreas have had temporary reunions. ABC reports that "Nearly 20,000 Koreans have participated in 20 rounds of face-to-face temporary reunions held between the countries since 2000". [1 Image, 2 Quotes, 1 Link, 125 words]
