On June 7th and 8th, New York
City Media Lab held its first ever “Fake News Horror Show.” The two-day event
included lectures, workshops, and an art show; bringing together all different
people who were interested in the problem of fake news. A big purposed of the conference
was to show that technology can have a messy relationship with information and
the people who work to advance media. There were many interactive parts of the
conference, one of them being 3 monitors displaying news broadcasts from multiple
news sources. The job of the participant was to identify the screen with the
fake news story; “they were all stories that aired on real news stations.”
Which is what makes this a horror show. [1 link, 1 picture, 1 quotation, 122 words]
